Development of Reporting Mechanism

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

The main development focus at this point is on being able to demonstrate prototypes or proof-of-concept systems. The Entity Module as a prototype was not designed as a production-scale currency tracking system for a huge multi-national corporate entity, but it should work fine as a lightweight demonstration system. The same approach is being used in the development of the Reporter Module.

Right now, the preferred mechanism for reporting inter-entity currency activity has shifted to a ‘pulled’ report. That is, in contrast to an entity registering with a Reporter site in order to ‘push’ or publish its inter-entity transactions, an entity would instead grant a Reporter site access to its publishable transaction information. The Reporter site would then periodically visit member entity sites and other Reporter sites for transaction updates, similar to a feed system. The transaction records in each update feed would then be automatically reconciled with the reports coming from other entities - a reported credit inflow by one entity should have a matching credit outflow report by another entity. Once such a match is found, a Reporter site could periodically publish verified transaction summaries for its member entities. It is important to note that in this prototype system under development, the Reporter site is merely a passive medium that the public could use to examine the veracity of published inter-entity transaction data. In this system, each entity maintains its brand independence; members of an entity do not need the participation of other entities to issue, assign and use their currency brand.

Pre-Alpha Demonstration Package

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Our product offering is currently limited to a php-based package which demonstrates how a currency-issuing entity might structure its accounts. This product is intended primarily to inform potential collaborators and interested developers of accounting and transaction requirements between entity accounts in a satconomy framework.

For those interested in colloborating with the development of this product, the demonstration package is available for download here or here.

2008 First Half Goals

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

For the first half of 2008, our goals are as follows:

1Q: Launch a demonstration website (Entity Module) and collect user input from interested developers and end-users who would like to establish independent currency brands; Provide source code to the open source community to highlight the basic system requirements; Hire people who are willing to be paid in the tyaga.org currency brand, contract needed services from organizations that already issue their own currency brands, and/or find partners for collaborative work

2Q: Launch a second demonstration website (Reporter Module); Develop an organizational plan based on first quarter results and propose a total expense and revenue budget for the year 2008 currency cycle

Ganges River Activist Groups

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

When I think of people who publicly voice their support for movements and activism that they support, I wonder if their emphathy is strong enough for them to sell products to the groups that they admire, even if it means accepting independently issued currency brands from those groups.

As an example, take the environmental activists in India who are tyring to protect the Ganges River. If the likes of Rakesh Jaiswal’s group decided to issue its own currency brand, would a farmer accept Jaiswal’s currency in exchange for his produce? That same farmer might already be accepting money from those who recklessly pollute the Ganges River. How could the farmer or the market in general determine where a buyer’s money come from, so that market particpants will have the ability to cater their products to support sustainable economic activities, instead of blindly accepting money?

Tyaga.org hopes to provide practical solutions to these questions, through the issuance of currency brands that are traceable to independent market entities.
